The 2020 George W. Hunt, S.J., Prize for Excellence in Journalism, Arts & Letters, will be awarded in the category of “Journalism.”
Journalists are defined as those who generate regular written content for popular audiences and mass distribution (e.g., newspaper/magazine columnists and reporters; contributing editors/ writers; editors, op-ed writers and bloggers, etc.)
Topical areas include religion, the arts, sports, politics, economics and national/international public affairs.
Only English language works of which the nominee is the sole or principal author will be considered.
Nominees must submit a writing sample not to exceed 10,000 words. Full texts of published books (should they be 10,000 words or less) and excerpts from collections are welcome. The Selection Committee may request further excerpts or complete works. The Selection Committee will not consider self-published work.
Individuals who are employed by America Media or who appear on the masthead of America magazine are not eligible for consideration.
